Firstly what is hypnosis?

Hypnosis is a natural state in which the mind is relaxed and enabled to accept solutions to your issues more easily than you could in a normal waking state.

There are lots of misconceptions about hypnosis, but in a therapeutic setting it is induced to make the therapy more effective. You will be easily guided into an empowering state, and you will be able to emerge comfortably at the end.

Is it like stage hypnosis?

Stage hypnotists are showmen and entertainers. I am a Clinical Hypnotherapist trained to help you improve your life. We both use the hypnosis, but for different ends.

Will I lose control and be made to do or say something I do not want to?

A hypnotherapist does not take control of you. It is a voluntary state. You cannot be hypnotised against your will. You will know what is being suggested all the way through the session. You retain control, and accept therapeutic suggestions.

In a hypnotherapy context no one can make you do or say anything you do not want to.  It is simply about overcoming the problem you came in with.

So what is hypnotherapy?

During a typical session we will first talk about how and when you experience the unwanted anxiety. I then set the scene for the hypnosis and guide you into a good state for suggestions to be most effective for you when anxiety would have been triggered previously. After I have given the suggestions I energe you out of the state so you can travel home safely.

I will also teach you how to do self hypnosis so that you can easily experience the benefits independently of me in your day to day life. All hypnosis is self hypnosis, so there is nothing to be concerned about - you are always in charge.

I will describe what the therapy consists of on the next page
